and algorithms to combine, transform, and evaluate absolute value, polynomial, radical,
and rational expressions.
4. Identify and solve absolute value, polynomial, radical, and rational equations.
5. Identify and solve absolute value and linear inequalities.
6. Model, interpret and justify mathematical ideas and concepts using multiple
representations.
7. Connect and use multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in
the study of other disciplines
Core Objectives * Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and visual communication.
* Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing concepts and constructing solutions.
* Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.
* Teamwork: Students will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others to support a shared purpose or goal and consider different points of view.
Program Student Learning Outcomes PSLO ALPHA: Reading skills - Demonstrates comprehension of content-area reading material.
Identifies all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrates a full understanding of the reading.

Attendance Policy Class Attendance Expectations:

-Arrival after the roll has been taken will be considered tardy.
-Leaving class before dismissal will also be considered tardy.
-2 tardies are equal to 1 absence.
-1 absence deducts 2 pts of the 10 pts given for attendance.
-1 tardy deducts 1 pt from the 10 pts given for attendance.
-After all 10 attendance pts are gone, the student is placed in attendance probation
- While in attendance probation, the student must show extreme effort in attendance and academic preparedness, otherwise the student will fail the course, per the discretion of the professor.
-At 9 absences or the equivalent of such, the student automatically fails
-Attendance is tallied via assigned seating, therefore sitting in the incorrect seating position may cause you to be marked absent, so make sure to be seated in your assigned seat for the duration of class.
-It is the responsibility of tardy students to check in with the professor at the end of class, to be marked tardy instead of absent, otherwise, the student will remain with an absent mark.
-There are no excused absences, including medical, legal, and childcare emergencies, so bringing a doctor's note is unnecessary. For school-sanctioned activities (the only form of excused absence), a proper excuse note must be presented either prior to the event, or immediately after returning from the event, signed by or emailed from the appropriate official.
-A student may be marked tardy if the professor deems them a distraction, danger, or disruption to themselves or the learning environment and/or may be asked to leave.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies
  1. No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.

  2. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.

  3. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
